Big Hero 6 (2014)
Stephen Robles:
Hello and welcome to Movies on the Side, this is Stephen Robles.
Nate:
And this is Nate Baranowski.
Stephen Robles:
And today we are discussing, I don't want to know spoilers, but one of my favorite Disney movies, Big Hero 6 from 2014. I cannot wait to talk about it. Nate, I feel like whenever I've mentioned this movie in the past, you've always
Nate:
Mm-hmm.
Stephen Robles:
been kind of like, hmm, yeah, I couldn't get a read on how you felt about this movie.
Nate:
Right, I think for the most part,
Stephen Robles:
Right.
Nate:
I saw it before and basically said, I remember it being good,
Stephen Robles:
Okay.
Nate:
but I'm not committed to rewatching it again because I would need to rewatch it because I, you know, somewhat didn't remember most of it. And then I did a chalk piece for Disney that was big hero six themed that was beloved by people because people love this movie and
Stephen Robles:
People
Nate:
I watched
Stephen Robles:
love this movie.
Nate:
the movie in preparation for it. And I guess we're gonna put all of our cards out on the table.
Stephen Robles:
Yes, yes. Put them
Nate:
I loved it too.
Stephen Robles:
all out.
Nate:
I loved it too.
Stephen Robles:
Yes! Yes! I'm so happy, Nate, because, well, we're gonna talk about it. First of all, real quick, rotten tomatoes. I will say the audience and critic score are very, very close. So if you guess one number and hit either one, I'll give it to you. What do you think this got rotten tomatoes? It's a good one. It's a good one. It's a good one. It's a good one. It's a good one. It's a good one. It's a good one. It's a good one. It's a good one. It's a good one. It's a good one.
Nate:
Stephen Robles:
Close, critics gave it a 90, audience gave it a 91.
Nate:
Mm-hmm.
Stephen Robles:
90,
Nate:
Mm-hmm
Stephen Robles:
91 split, it's a good movie. I don't know what it is about, so 2014, I already had two children at the time. No. No. No. No. No. No.
Nate:
It
Stephen Robles:
No.
Nate:
didn't
Stephen Robles:
No. No. No. No.
Nate:
make
Stephen Robles:
No. No. No.
Nate:
a
Stephen Robles:
No.
Nate:
ton
Stephen Robles:
No. No. No. No.
Nate:
of,
Stephen Robles:
No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No.
Nate:
it
Stephen Robles:
No.
Nate:
didn't
Stephen Robles:
No. No. No.
Nate:
make
Stephen Robles:
No. No. No.
Nate:
a
Stephen Robles:
No.
Nate:
ton
Stephen Robles:
No. No
Nate:
of noise, right?
Stephen Robles:
It didn't make a ton of noise.
Nate:
This was
Stephen Robles:
It's
Nate:
not
Stephen Robles:
not
Nate:
frozen.
Stephen Robles:
one of the bigger movies. It was not Frozen. When did Frozen come out? Now that you said that. Frozen, Frozen release. Frozen came out 2013. See, this was
Nate:
Stephen Robles:
the issue. It was not Frozen. It was Frozen.
Nate:
maybe
Stephen Robles:
It was
Nate:
was
Stephen Robles:
Frozen.
Nate:
the
Stephen Robles:
It
Nate:
first
Stephen Robles:
was Frozen. It was Frozen.
Nate:
one?
Stephen Robles:
It was Frozen. It was Frozen. It was Frozen. It was Frozen. It was Frozen. It was Frozen. It was Frozen. It was Frozen. It was Frozen. It was Frozen. It was Frozen.
Nate:
Oh, it was in the aftershock
Stephen Robles:
This,
Nate:
of Frozen. We were all still singing, Let It Go.
Stephen Robles:
everyone was still saying let it go.
Nate:
There's
Stephen Robles:
It probably
Nate:
no music
Stephen Robles:
came out.
Nate:
in this one.
Stephen Robles:
It came out for streaming or rental probably around the time this movie came out. Like Frozen was too big. It was too big. And I think Big Hero 6 got snubbed. I
Nate:
What
Stephen Robles:
think
Nate:
came right after Big
Stephen Robles:
I snubbed.
Nate:
Hero 6?
Stephen Robles:
Oh, now I can
Nate:
You
Stephen Robles:
make
Nate:
got
Stephen Robles:
me
Nate:
it
Stephen Robles:
do
Nate:
pulled up?
Stephen Robles:
Disney animated movies. See, Big Hero 6 was 2014, Zootopia was 2016, and then Moana was also 2016,
Nate:
some buzz.
Stephen Robles:
Internet. So I mean, Zootopia was fine. You
Nate:
Yeah,
Stephen Robles:
know,
Nate:
that's good.
Stephen Robles:
it was, you know, but I do feel like this kind of open, let me actually look up Pixar around that time too.
Nate:
Do you think
Stephen Robles:
Because
Nate:
we had like another toy story around there?
Stephen Robles:
I'm trying to remember, I'm trying to remember. Pixar feature films, this is some live
Nate:
This
Stephen Robles:
Googling
Nate:
is live.
Stephen Robles:
here.
Nate:
Look at, look at how,
Stephen Robles:
Live
Nate:
look how
Stephen Robles:
Googling
Nate:
focused Steven looks. If you're
Stephen Robles:
on
Nate:
watching
Stephen Robles:
video.
Nate:
it on YouTube, look at his face.
Stephen Robles:
I don't mess around, Nate, I don't mess around. Listen, 2014.
Nate:
It's a huge jackman and swordfish hacking.
Stephen Robles:
Wait, Hugh Jackman was in Swordfish?
Nate:
Yeah.
Stephen Robles:
I never saw that movie. Oh,
Nate:
He was the hacker.
Stephen Robles:
okay. Really, I don't, I feel like Hugh Jackman, I don't know, he doesn't feel like a hacker
Nate:
He didn't
Stephen Robles:
to me.
Nate:
come across as
Stephen Robles:
As a good hacker, yeah,
Nate:
a
Stephen Robles:
okay,
Nate:
good hacker,
Stephen Robles:
very good.
Nate:
but also they did new
Stephen Robles:
No,
Nate:
hacking, right? So. So.
Stephen Robles:
zero Pixar movies in 2014.
Nate:
Okay.
Stephen Robles:
Monsters University was 2013,
Nate:
Yeah.
Stephen Robles:
Inside Out was 2015,
Nate:
Ooh.
Stephen Robles:
and then the Good Decider, so 2014.
Nate:
So I think, I think frozen and inside out
Stephen Robles:
this frozen.
Nate:
book, book ended it.
Stephen Robles:
Right, and it got overlooked, it got snubbed.
Nate:
And this one,
Stephen Robles:
I don't, I feel like it's been so long now,
Nate:
yeah.
Stephen Robles:
it's almost 10 years since this movie came out. I rewatched most of it.
Nate:
I still
Stephen Robles:
It's been so long now, it's almost 10 years since this movie came out. I rewatched most of it. It's been so long now, it's almost 10 years since this movie came out. I rewatched most of it. It's been so long now, it's almost 10 years since this movie came out. I rewatched most of it. It's been so long now, it's almost 10 years since this movie came out. I rewatched most of it. It's been so long now, it's almost 10 years since this movie came out. I rewatched most of it. It's been so long now, it's almost 10 years since this movie came out.
Nate:
do my math to 2020. You know, like I still like
Stephen Robles:
Oh,
Nate:
think
Stephen Robles:
you did.
Nate:
of 2020 as like, oh, about six years ago. I was like, oh,
Stephen Robles:
No,
Nate:
we're in 2023.
Stephen Robles:
we're in 2023. 2023, this movie's nine years old. I already had two kids at the time,
Nate:
Mm-hmm
Stephen Robles:
and so I watched this as like an adult adult, and my kids were young enough when it came out, like we watched it multiple times when it came out at
Nate:
Mm-hmm.
Stephen Robles:
home, you know? And I really loved it then. I hadn't seen it for a while, and so in preparation for this, I wanted to watch a few scenes to make sure it still
Nate:
Mm-hmm
Stephen Robles:
was
Nate:
on tick
Stephen Robles:
cemented
Nate:
tock
Stephen Robles:
in my mind.
Nate:
Call back
Stephen Robles:
I didn't
Nate:
to our bonus
Stephen Robles:
see any. Thank
Nate:
episode.
Stephen Robles:
you.
Nate:
Please listen to our bonus episodes. Stephen. How do they get it?
Stephen Robles:
Patreon.com slash movies on the side or directly an Apple podcast you could subscribe there and you get a bonus episode Every time there's a movie review just saying
Nate:
We talked
Stephen Robles:
it's
Nate:
about Steven
Stephen Robles:
good today
Nate:
watching a 24 minutes of the best parts of a movie, not knowing the name of the movie, but watching
Stephen Robles:
on TikTok.
Nate:
it on TikTok.
Stephen Robles:
On
Nate:
He's
Stephen Robles:
TikTok.
Nate:
become the monster.
Stephen Robles:
And we talk about the Senate hearing about TikTok, which was, I think it was a pretty good segment. But anyway, that's the bonus episode. So I watched this movie multiple times. I watched clips again just today in preparation and this movie holds up. It is still one of my favorites. I feel like this movie deals with so many themes. It has loss and grief on multiple angles. It has the friendship between Hero and Baymax. And I feel like in the nine years came out, Baymax has become like a cultural character. I feel like when there's been certain cell phones that come out and when there's like a dot for the camera, people will make Baymax wallpapers. So one of the dots is his eye.
Nate:
Mmm.
Stephen Robles:
You know what I mean? Like stuff like that. And like I saw a recent picture of like a fashion thing and it was a big white like puffy jacket. And somebody said, it's the Baymax jacket. Like I feel like it has weaved itself quietly Into like the cultural mind and I love that because I think this movie is great And so I'm glad you enjoyed it the second time
Nate:
I wonder,
Stephen Robles:
Yes.
Nate:
here's, let me tell you something from my boots on the ground research from this movie, which was,
Stephen Robles:
Boots on the ground, movies on the side,
Nate:
which
Stephen Robles:
I
Nate:
was
Stephen Robles:
get it.
Nate:
chalking on the ground while people talked about this movie.
Stephen Robles:
Oh, you heard
Nate:
That's
Stephen Robles:
that.
Nate:
my research.
Stephen Robles:
I like that,
Nate:
Let me tell
Stephen Robles:
I
Nate:
you,
Stephen Robles:
like that.
Nate:
what percentage
Stephen Robles:
Yes.
Nate:
of people do you think said Betamax instead of Baymax?
Stephen Robles:
Everyone over 40 said Betamax.
Nate:
Yeah, it was about 70%. It was about 70% of people said
Stephen Robles:
That's a
Nate:
beta
Stephen Robles:
shame.
Nate:
max.
Stephen Robles:
Everyone
Nate:
So
Stephen Robles:
30 and under said Baymax though. I'm sure.
Nate:
Hey, I don't know. I don't know if it broke down by
Stephen Robles:
No one under
Nate:
age.
Stephen Robles:
30 would know what Betamax is.
Nate:
We can talk later about what the
Stephen Robles:
Yeah, exactly. That's
Nate:
pronunciation
Stephen Robles:
staying in. That's
Nate:
of
Stephen Robles:
staying.
Nate:
incanto was
Stephen Robles:
I
Nate:
among
Stephen Robles:
don't want to talk
Nate:
people.
Stephen Robles:
about it. Oh, no, let's not talk about that. But listen, here's what I think is unique about this as a Disney animated movie.
Nate:
Yes.
Stephen Robles:
One, I feel like the action in this movie is some of the best in a Disney movie. You know, you typically don't watch a Disney movie for action per se, like fighting scenes or whatever. But just looking back at the few... Actually, there are several action scenes. in this movie. There's
Nate:
Mm-hmm
Stephen Robles:
a lot of them. But I feel like they're actually really good. And paired that with the soundtrack of this movie, I feel like the music is actually really good too. And those together, like, this is just a fun movie to watch. And I think it does action better than most Disney movies. I don't
Nate:
Yeah,
Stephen Robles:
know.
Nate:
yeah, I would say the action is great in it. The, this
Stephen Robles:
Mm-hmm.
Nate:
movie, we're not doing spoilers, right? It's nine years old. We do, are we
Stephen Robles:
We,
Nate:
doing a spoiler
Stephen Robles:
no, no,
Nate:
horn? The
Stephen Robles:
no
Nate:
End
Stephen Robles:
spoiler horn. We'll save things and it will spoil the ending if you have not seen this nine year old movie, but it's fine.
Nate:
Okay,
Stephen Robles:
Go ahead.
Nate:
so I guess gentle spoilers for the first bit, but so hero is his parents died, so he's being
Stephen Robles:
When
Nate:
raised
Stephen Robles:
he
Nate:
by
Stephen Robles:
was,
Nate:
his aunt,
Stephen Robles:
yes.
Nate:
correct,
Stephen Robles:
Right, yep.
Nate:
with his brother.
Stephen Robles:
older brother Tadashi.
Nate:
And his older brother is so... is removed, dies like not that long into the movie.
Stephen Robles:
No,
Nate:
And... And...
Stephen Robles:
no, but their relationship is established. I feel
Nate:
Okay,
Stephen Robles:
like
Nate:
yeah,
Stephen Robles:
Tadashi
Nate:
yeah,
Stephen Robles:
has the older
Nate:
enough
Stephen Robles:
brother,
Nate:
to
Stephen Robles:
yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Nate:
really care about their relationship. That concept of you
Stephen Robles:
Yeah.
Nate:
lost your parents and now you lost your brother is so... I don't know what to say. I don't know what to say. I don't know what to say. I don't know what to say. I don't know what to say. I don't know what to say. I don't know what to say. I don't know what to say. crushing I guess
Stephen Robles:
It's heavy.
Nate:
to like
Stephen Robles:
It's heavy.
Nate:
so heavy it's I'm not sure if I've seen a more heavy like There's a lot there are there are a lot of Disney movies where like the person starts as an orphan or they lost a parent It's everywhere
Stephen Robles:
Right, right.
Nate:
kind of throughout it sets
Stephen Robles:
Lots
Nate:
up a lot
Stephen Robles:
of dads,
Nate:
of the conflict. There's a lot
Stephen Robles:
lots of
Nate:
of
Stephen Robles:
dads being lost, you know. You
Nate:
Right,
Stephen Robles:
know. You
Nate:
there's
Stephen Robles:
know.
Nate:
a lot of the frozen Elsa and Anna like their parents are gone like there's a lot of
Stephen Robles:
Lion
Nate:
that because
Stephen Robles:
King. That's famously, I'm just saying,
Nate:
Right
Stephen Robles:
I'm just saying, like,
Nate:
right
Stephen Robles:
they're
Nate:
And
Stephen Robles:
the
Nate:
like,
Stephen Robles:
big ones.
Nate:
so that's kind of normal to us. It sets up a bunch of conflict. The character has
Stephen Robles:
Alright.
Nate:
sadness and wounds inside that like kind of helps propel them on their hero's journey or whatever.
Stephen Robles:
Yeah.
Nate:
This
Stephen Robles:
Yeah.
Nate:
is maybe the most sad that I felt like I've ever seen a main Disney character, like their position in life, other
Stephen Robles:
All
Nate:
than
Stephen Robles:
right.
Nate:
maybe Cinderella, who is full on traumatized one remaining family member that was married into her dad. Like other than that,
Stephen Robles:
Yeah,
Nate:
she has to
Stephen Robles:
Woody,
Nate:
resort to mice.
Stephen Robles:
Woody is, Woody is pretty distraught in Toy Story one with the introduction of Buzz, but that's not sad. He was kind
Nate:
But he
Stephen Robles:
of
Nate:
actually
Stephen Robles:
like.
Nate:
has like good friends around him.
Stephen Robles:
Yeah, that's true. That's true.
Nate:
For a while, Hero has like no support system. Oh no, he has his aunt, who his aunt is great.
Stephen Robles:
Yeah,
Nate:
Like
Stephen Robles:
yeah,
Nate:
her
Stephen Robles:
great
Nate:
character
Stephen Robles:
character.
Nate:
is great throughout, but anyway. What a deep, deep place to put a main character in an animated movie.
Stephen Robles:
It's a rough place, but I think that then opens the door to this incredible friendship, which again, is a thing in Disney movies, the friendships, the relationships between the main character, whoever else, like hero and Baymax, a relationship to a robot. And let's just talk about Baymax because it is incredible how much emotion and like emotive lines he can
Nate:
Mm-hmm
Stephen Robles:
speak with like zero facial expressions Like the challenge of the Baymax character in this movie is that the face barely moves like he blinks
Nate:
Right.
Stephen Robles:
But that's it like there's a
Nate:
Right.
Stephen Robles:
line connecting the eyes that doesn't move There's not eyebrows to communicate any kind of emotion and this was voiced by Scott at sit And I just think between his voice acting and the script and the way the story sets up these scenes It is amazing how much emotion Baymax can construe and portray and make you feel as the viewer And it's just amazing Is there a beeping going on? What is beeping?
Nate:
Yeah, a truck outside is backing
Stephen Robles:
Oh, okay.
Nate:
up into a driveway that
Stephen Robles:
Yeah, one
Nate:
way.
Stephen Robles:
of my best points in this episode, and there's, you know, just beeping, that's cool.
Nate:
Well,
Stephen Robles:
You know, that's fine.
Nate:
you can mute my track while you say your cool track.
Stephen Robles:
No, no, no,
Nate:
But now
Stephen Robles:
no.
Nate:
you've
Stephen Robles:
But anyway,
Nate:
called it
Stephen Robles:
I just,
Nate:
out, so now we're here. So now we're here.
Stephen Robles:
I mean, we're here, there's a video, there's no editing. So anyway, I just feel like it's an incredible character. I think semi-unique in Disney's like movie chronology or whatever, to have this robot with so much emotion, simple lines, you know what I mean? but so meaningful. And so again,
Nate:
Mm.
Stephen Robles:
I think that's to the writing, to the voice acting. And the whimsy, like the fist bump, is one of the famous parts of this movie where
Nate:
little
Stephen Robles:
when Baymax,
Nate:
little little
Stephen Robles:
da, ba-da-da-da-da-da-da-da, which apparently, in the voice recording room, ads that just did like a bunch of sounds because they weren't sure what they were gonna go with for Baymax
Nate:
Mm-hmm.
Stephen Robles:
representing the fist bump. And they said whenever they tested that sound in theaters, like with a theater of people before the movie launched, whenever he said, ba-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da, laughter. And so they knew that that would be the sound. Initially,
Nate:
Good use
Stephen Robles:
they
Nate:
of
Stephen Robles:
thought,
Nate:
focus groups.
Stephen Robles:
yeah, it was 100% focus, because when they first heard him record it, they were like, no, we're never going to use that. But once people heard it, it was clear, the clear winner, the sound that that would come out. And so I just, yeah, I love Baymax. I love how he can communicate so much emotion. And we'll get to the end later. But the way he cares for hero.
Nate:
Mm-hmm.
Stephen Robles:
And it's like, I don't know how deep we want to get right away. But it's like,
Nate:
Yeah, let's go for it.
Stephen Robles:
He's still a robot,
Nate:
Mm-hmm
Stephen Robles:
but because he's programmed to care for someone else both physically and emotionally and they do kind of like represent the emotions as like these
Nate:
Hmm?
Stephen Robles:
neuro connections some as something Baymax can read when Being since his ultimate goal is just to care for the well-being of hero. I Don't know. It just becomes really like an emotional thing like to say. Oh,
Nate:
Right, it's selfless.
Stephen Robles:
this is what True care
Nate:
Right.
Stephen Robles:
selfless
Nate:
..
Stephen Robles:
care of another person would look like and even if it's by a robot Like it's really
Nate:
Right.
Stephen Robles:
meaningful
Nate:
With
Stephen Robles:
when
Nate:
self-sacrifice
Stephen Robles:
true care
Nate:
built into it, even if it's just like all in the programming.
Stephen Robles:
Right.
Nate:
But I think they add an extra level to Baymax because Tadashi programmed him. Because Hero's brother is one who made him. So there's also this element of like the fingerprints of my brother around this robot as
Stephen Robles:
Right,
Nate:
well.
Stephen Robles:
which you could even say like someone who builds apps today or like the people who create iOS for the iPhone, even their programming in code as it's represented in animations on the iPhone
Nate:
Mm-hmm.
Stephen Robles:
or whatever, like their fingerprints are on the devices that they make. And so, yeah, to your point, while it's seemingly a cold robot, it was programmed by a human being. And so I think it's a good and I love the moment, one of my favorite moments. Well, I cry four times in this movie. Can
Nate:
Wow,
Stephen Robles:
you name the four
Nate:
okay.
Stephen Robles:
times? Can you name the four times?
Nate:
Okay, so Tadashi dies in the fire.
Stephen Robles:
Yeah, I probably cry at that point. I think that's one I was definitely thinking, but yeah, okay, the other three.
Nate:
uh, Baymax sacrifices himself
Stephen Robles:
Yep, definitely at that point.
Nate:
Uh...
Stephen Robles:
other key moments. I cry every time. Nate is thinking. Nate is right.
Nate:
Oh, when Hero tries to kill a man and then realizes
Stephen Robles:
Yes.
Nate:
that it was bad.
Stephen Robles:
Yes. And I'm gonna tell you why. That was, I was wondering if you were gonna guess that one and you nailed it. And then there's one other one. It's not a sad moment in particular, but for some reason I cry every time. I'm sorry.
Nate:
Is it sitting up on the San Francisco bridge or like discussing something with Baymax? And I don't know.
Stephen Robles:
You are very close. I'm going to say that you got it. It's the flight scene when
Nate:
the
Stephen Robles:
they
Nate:
flight.
Stephen Robles:
end sitting on that balloon, which
Nate:
Yeah,
Stephen Robles:
I think is what you were thinking of.
Nate:
yeah. Yeah. I'm on
Stephen Robles:
Yeah.
Nate:
top of the bridge. You're right. They're on the balloon. Yes.
Stephen Robles:
I'm impressed Nate. I feel
Nate:
Thank you.
Stephen Robles:
I feel known. That's very nice.
Nate:
I need, okay.
Stephen Robles:
But
Nate:
Okay. Yeah, go ahead. You cried
Stephen Robles:
Well,
Nate:
four times.
Stephen Robles:
I only want to talk about the one scene where so they're they finally found Dr. Callahan is the villain. Great villain, great reveal. First time watching this movie. I'd never, you know, you don't expect it. But once hero realizes it's Callahan, inside Baymax, he has two chips. There's like the green computer chip that his brother, Tadashi, programmed, which is like the healthcare health
Nate:
Mm-hmm
Stephen Robles:
provider chip. And then there's the red chip that hero made for fighting and destruction. You know what I mean?
Nate:
Right.
Stephen Robles:
That's basically what it is. And both of those chips are in Baymax in during this fight scene. And then once hero realizes Callahan is the bad guy, hero removes the green chip from and Baymax goes all destroy on Callahan, which I think that scene is one of the most masterfully created scenes. Like there's a moment where you just see Baymax's like red eyes in the darkness in the warehouse, like super effective. And like everyone's trying to stop him. You actually stop hearing the sound effects and what's going on and you just hear the music.
Nate:
Mm-hmm.
Stephen Robles:
Like it's so deep,
Nate:
It's very
Stephen Robles:
but
Nate:
good
Stephen Robles:
it's so good because it's a metaphor of what happens any amount of caring from a person, from a thing. And you only like if it's just raw grief and revenge, like it is basically evil. You know
Nate:
Right.
Stephen Robles:
in that scene you see Baymax as evil, red eyes like
Nate:
Right.
Stephen Robles:
trying to kill this person. And you have to grapple with that even in this realization moment when this bad guy let his brother die. has every reason to be like destroy this person. If you remove all care like it's not good like you still have to have both of those things like
Nate:
Yeah.
Stephen Robles:
and I don't know I just love the visual representation of like the green and red cards and seeing it play out in that scene it's just one of my favorite scenes ever
Nate:
Yeah,
Stephen Robles:
I'll be
Nate:
it's
Stephen Robles:
honest.
Nate:
very good. It's also a good picture of when you're trying so hard to do something to solve your grief, you're trying to do something to like, this will fix it, this will make me feel better.
Stephen Robles:
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Nate:
And like his finding Callahan and fighting him became the all consuming thing. But then after a while, it's like, oh wait, like this isn't gonna bring your brother back. This isn't going to
Stephen Robles:
All right.
Nate:
solve anything. This is just.
Stephen Robles:
And then he can share that realization with Callahan in the final fight scene, as we come to realize that Callahan lost his daughter in this experiment. Hiro can then tell him, go ahead. Go ahead.
Nate:
Okay, this is, okay, we're on a big hero six gush over at fest, but I need to splash a little bit of cold water on it. I actually somewhat
Stephen Robles:
Okay
Nate:
disagree, although I love James Cromwell's voice and everything he does and in Babe and, what's the Will Smith
Stephen Robles:
That's
Nate:
movie?
Stephen Robles:
some pig.
Nate:
I, Robot.
Stephen Robles:
Oh yeah,
Nate:
Yeah,
Stephen Robles:
yeah, yeah.
Nate:
love him in that too. But I do think that I find the Callahan character hard to believe his motivation in this. He goes from like mentor tech mentor doing this to
Stephen Robles:
Right.
Nate:
we find out later Alistair Alistair. How do you
Stephen Robles:
The
Nate:
pronounce
Stephen Robles:
company
Nate:
it?
Stephen Robles:
owner Alastair
Nate:
Yeah.
Stephen Robles:
Cree.
Nate:
Yeah. Allen. Voice by Alan Tudyk who in the
Stephen Robles:
Yes.
Nate:
just is doing a voice and not a chicken, which is good. I mean, that's range. It's like when you
Stephen Robles:
Yeah.
Nate:
see seeing Alan Tudyk do a normal dude's voice is like watching, who's the guy who did Smigel? It's like watching him do like.
Stephen Robles:
Oh well.
Nate:
It's like watching him do like. It's like watching him do like. It's like watching him do like. It's like watching him do like. It's like watching him do like. It's like watching him do like. It's like watching him do like. It's like watching him do like. It's like watching him do like. It's like watching him do like. It's like watching him do like. It's like watching him do like. It's like watching him do like. It's like watching him do like. It's like watching him do like. It's like watching him do like.
Stephen Robles:
I would just let I mean if you would have not said who's that guy's name. I would have been able to tell you
Nate:
Andy
Stephen Robles:
But
Nate:
Circus.
Stephen Robles:
now voice
Nate:
It's like watching
Stephen Robles:
Andy circus.
Nate:
Andy
Stephen Robles:
Thank
Nate:
Circus
Stephen Robles:
you
Nate:
do just like a regular guy of like, remember he was in a prestige and he was just like the assistant guy
Stephen Robles:
Yeah, that's
Nate:
and you're
Stephen Robles:
true.
Nate:
like, you're not Smigel or a monkey or some other sort of mo cap monster. You're just a regular dude. Alan Tudyk doing a great just jerk CEO. Anyway,
Stephen Robles:
Yeah, yeah, that was
Nate:
I digress
Stephen Robles:
good.
Nate:
and I'm now I'm back. The. Him going from that to you. out that Alistair Cree like
Stephen Robles:
Yeah.
Nate:
did some quasi-dangerous things and his daughter got sucked
Stephen Robles:
Abigail
Nate:
into
Stephen Robles:
got sucked into the portal.
Nate:
the another dimension. It's kind of loosey-goosey. I'm not a huge fan of all of that exactly. I don't think it
Stephen Robles:
Sure.
Nate:
needed the big Avenger style portal in it.
Stephen Robles:
Made
Nate:
But
Stephen Robles:
for a good fight scene at the end though.
Nate:
sure, sure. But going from that to I am now going to kill a bunch of college kids that are out to like he doesn't
Stephen Robles:
Yeah.
Nate:
like fight them off in like a Just get out of my way he is like
Stephen Robles:
Hmm?
Nate:
Like the
Stephen Robles:
Yeah.
Nate:
way they fight he's sending those like nanobots to destroy them like entirely and I was like wait a minute You know that
Stephen Robles:
Yes.
Nate:
this is hero like he's not disguised as some like spider-man or whatever He's the the brother of the guy that you worked with for a long time and I just just not sure that the whole either Callahan is really really really bad or he's just like a morning dad who is like after Alistair Cree
Stephen Robles:
Yeah.
Nate:
But like not trying to kill anybody and I feel like they try to have it both ways and it's like
Stephen Robles:
Yeah,
Nate:
I don't know. I don't quite buy it.
Stephen Robles:
I could see that. I mean, they did make him like a not scary villain, but he was like a serious villain. Like the several action scenes, it was pretty intense with
Nate:
Right.
Stephen Robles:
him, the danger anyway. It seemed like real danger. So I could see that. I could see that.
Nate:
Let's talk about the Motley crew. Oh fighters,
Stephen Robles:
Thank you. Thank you.
Nate:
the big hero, six.
Stephen Robles:
The sick, can I tell you, I did not know that Damon Wayans was the voice of Wasabi until today.
Nate:
Oh really?
Stephen Robles:
I had no idea. I
Nate:
I
Stephen Robles:
had
Nate:
knew
Stephen Robles:
no
Nate:
it before
Stephen Robles:
idea.
Nate:
I looked it up. I said, oh, okay. Yep. I know this voice.
Stephen Robles:
I had no idea. You got wasabi, you
Nate:
I
Stephen Robles:
got
Nate:
did know
Stephen Robles:
honey
Nate:
TJ
Stephen Robles:
lemon.
Nate:
Miller. I also knew TJ
Stephen Robles:
TJ
Nate:
Miller.
Stephen Robles:
Miller.
Nate:
Like that's a very
Stephen Robles:
Yeah.
Nate:
recognizable voice as well as Fred.
Stephen Robles:
Fred, which I kind of like Fred. You know, I feel like sometimes the dumb characters
Nate:
I do too!
Stephen Robles:
can be like annoying. I like Fred in this movie. I think he does a good job.
Nate:
There is the perfect
Stephen Robles:
I think he does a good job. I think he does a good job. I think he does a good job. I think he does a good job. I think he does a good job. I think he does a good job. I think he does a good job. I think he does a good job. I think he does a good job. I think he does a good job. I think he does a good job. I think he does a good job. I think he does a good job. I think he does a good job. I think he does a good job. I think he does a good job. I think he does a good job. I think he does
Nate:
amount of Fred in this movie. Like they're not leaning
Stephen Robles:
Yeah.
Nate:
into it too hard, but he's just
Stephen Robles:
Right, right,
Nate:
the
Stephen Robles:
right.
Nate:
right amount of goofy.
Stephen Robles:
because I feel like they give him an innocence along with the goofiness
Nate:
Mm-hmm.
Stephen Robles:
and like he's actually helpful at some points. And like I love the way he wields the sign in the last fight scene. And then
Nate:
Yep,
Stephen Robles:
he's like, now
Nate:
yep.
Stephen Robles:
my signs are on fire. And you know, it's fun. Like I
Nate:
Yeah.
Stephen Robles:
think he's a fun character. So he's good. You got Gogo who's on the skates. She's cool. I don't know if she gets a lot of, you know, like,
Nate:
She doesn't
Stephen Robles:
it's
Nate:
give a, I think
Stephen Robles:
cool.
Nate:
she's kind of like down the middle, like
Stephen Robles:
Yeah, just the straight shooters, you know,
Nate:
cool,
Stephen Robles:
no.
Nate:
cool,
Stephen Robles:
It's all
Nate:
like,
Stephen Robles:
business,
Nate:
yeah.
Stephen Robles:
it's all business.
Nate:
Where
Stephen Robles:
And
Nate:
like,
Stephen Robles:
you got
Nate:
and she's
Stephen Robles:
it.
Nate:
kind of like, you have to have someone who's like serious so that when they're surrounded by like the
Stephen Robles:
That's
Nate:
goofballs,
Stephen Robles:
true. Right, right. That's true. Right,
Nate:
it can't
Stephen Robles:
right.
Nate:
have everyone be Peter Quill.
Stephen Robles:
Yeah.
Nate:
You have to have some people, you have to have Groots and you have to have
Stephen Robles:
You
Nate:
the
Stephen Robles:
gotta
Nate:
others.
Stephen Robles:
have Gamora. Gamora.
Nate:
You gotta have Gamora.
Stephen Robles:
She's a serious
Nate:
Yep.
Stephen Robles:
one. Yeah. Exactly. You got Honey Lemon, played by Genesis Rodriguez, voiced by her. I like Honey Lemon. She's
Nate:
I do too.
Stephen Robles:
a cool character. Yeah.
Nate:
I don't quite understand all those balls she throws. Are they sticky? Are they, what do they do? I mean like they like explode into like bubble gum. Are they, okay. Okay. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't
Stephen Robles:
She
Nate:
know.
Stephen Robles:
got
Nate:
I don't
Stephen Robles:
different
Nate:
know. I don't know.
Stephen Robles:
kinds.
Nate:
I don't know. I don't know.
Stephen Robles:
Some
Nate:
I don't know.
Stephen Robles:
are
Nate:
I
Stephen Robles:
sticky,
Nate:
don't know.
Stephen Robles:
some get hard. You know, she uses them as like a shield. I don't know. You
Nate:
Yeah,
Stephen Robles:
know, you don't think about it that
Nate:
that's it.
Stephen Robles:
much.
Nate:
Yeah, it
Stephen Robles:
I
Nate:
don't
Stephen Robles:
mean,
Nate:
really matter.
Stephen Robles:
you know, don't worry about it, don't worry about it. And then you got Hero. That's the same. Hero, Fred, Go-Go, Wasabi, Honey Lemon.
Nate:
Yeah, wasabi has those laser those laser things which I feel
Stephen Robles:
I
Nate:
like
Stephen Robles:
like laser
Nate:
man
Stephen Robles:
things.
Nate:
if I had big old laser things connected to my arms and I was fighting I would lose a leg so
Stephen Robles:
Oh yeah.
Nate:
fast So fast
Stephen Robles:
There's a moment when he's first learning to use
Nate:
What
Stephen Robles:
him,
Nate:
the high
Stephen Robles:
he goes
Nate:
five?
Stephen Robles:
to like high five,
Nate:
Yeah,
Stephen Robles:
yeah he
Nate:
yeah
Stephen Robles:
goes to high five hero, he's like ehh. So I think you know, they played into that and then
Nate:
All
Stephen Robles:
Baymax
Nate:
tall
Stephen Robles:
is
Nate:
fun
Stephen Robles:
the
Nate:
and
Stephen Robles:
sixth.
Nate:
games. Yes.
Stephen Robles:
Yeah, I think it's a good crew. I think they have a nice mix of personalities and I think they have good chemistry when they're all like having dialogue.
Nate:
They made a recently a Baymax TV show on Disney Plus. Did you peek at it or is that coming out soon? It's called Baymax. It's just called Baymax.
Stephen Robles:
I don't
Nate:
They leaned into the fact that everyone
Stephen Robles:
know,
Nate:
doesn't
Stephen Robles:
see.
Nate:
know what this name is, so they just said, let's make it a title.
Stephen Robles:
I didn't, I don't want to
Nate:
you don't want it.
Stephen Robles:
soil the picture of Big Hero 6 in my mind.
Nate:
Would you watch a big hero 7?
Stephen Robles:
Yes, I would watch another movie.
Nate:
But you don't want a TV show.
Stephen Robles:
I don't want a TV show,
Nate:
You
Stephen Robles:
I don't
Nate:
don't
Stephen Robles:
need,
Nate:
trust
Stephen Robles:
well, I mean,
Nate:
Disney
Stephen Robles:
some of those Disney
Nate:
Plus.
Stephen Robles:
Plus shows, you know, they're
Nate:
I understand.
Stephen Robles:
debatable, it's debatable. So, which you have to watch Andor, because Andy Serkis, have you seen it yet? Have you seen Andor? Andor, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis, Andy Serkis,
Nate:
Nope,
Stephen Robles:
Andy
Nate:
not
Stephen Robles:
Serkis,
Nate:
yet. Nice boilers. No, not yet. Nice boilers.
Stephen Robles:
No spoilers, you just need to see it. There's an episode with Andy Serkis and it's really good. That's all I'm gonna say. And
Nate:
Okay?
Stephen Robles:
he's not
Nate:
Wonderful.
Stephen Robles:
gollum. He's not gollum in this, believe it or not. So just saying. And so, that's it. Thank you for watching. I hope you enjoyed it. I'll see you next time. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye.
Nate:
Does he have a claw hand?
Stephen Robles:
No, he's a normal
Nate:
Oh,
Stephen Robles:
human being,
Nate:
all his
Stephen Robles:
legit
Nate:
appendages.
Stephen Robles:
human being.
Nate:
Okay. Okay.
Stephen Robles:
All his appendages, I'm just saying. Let's talk about the flight scene just for a moment.
Nate:
Okay.
Stephen Robles:
I was looking for, I thought I read this somewhere, or maybe I heard it on a podcast, but for Disney, flight is kind of like representative of certain things, like whenever
Nate:
freedom.
Stephen Robles:
there's, you got freedom, it's
Nate:
Liberty,
Stephen Robles:
like catharsis,
Nate:
justice.
Stephen Robles:
for all, yeah. No, it's like, what are you looking around for?
Nate:
I'm just picturing flight. I'm looking
Stephen Robles:
I just
Nate:
over San
Stephen Robles:
picture
Nate:
Francisco
Stephen Robles:
it like...
Nate:
right now, which by the way, San Francisco, the place the theming
Stephen Robles:
Right.
Nate:
is coming to Disneyland, to California Adventure, they're turning Pacific Wharf into San Francisco, which will be a fun theming element. I love the different elements between it.
Stephen Robles:
That's cool.
Nate:
So anyway, flying scene, carry on.
Stephen Robles:
I just think, again, like flying is important in Disney movies, you think back to Peter Pan, you think Aladdin and the Magic carpet, like it's always
Nate:
Mm-hmm.
Stephen Robles:
a very poignant, deep moment.
Nate:
Mm, yeah.
Stephen Robles:
And I think, why am I gonna sound affected? Why, what is that? I just think this is one of the best flight scenes. I think this is a great, like it builds, you know, Baymax struggles to fly at first, and then, you know, he gets better at it, and just the music swelling behind it. I just think it's one of the best flight scenes. That's all I wanna say about it. It's a great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great,
Nate:
Alright,
Stephen Robles:
great, great, great, great,
Nate:
well, hold on a second hot shot. Let me give you,
Stephen Robles:
Why? What?
Nate:
I guess if you're gonna give me antagonistic energy, I'll give you some antagonistic.
Stephen Robles:
What? I didn't give
Nate:
Back,
Stephen Robles:
it...
Nate:
here we go, listen.
Stephen Robles:
I just know what you were doing. Yeah.
Nate:
You tell me what's a better flight scene. Are you ready?
Stephen Robles:
Oh, better flights. Okay.
Nate:
Better flight scene in bracket form. Big
Stephen Robles:
Top Gun
Nate:
Hero
Stephen Robles:
Maverick.
Nate:
6 Flying or Woody and Buzz in the original Toy Story.
Stephen Robles:
You can't- you can't go
Nate:
Falling
Stephen Robles:
all the way back
Nate:
with style.
Stephen Robles:
there.
Nate:
I can and I did.
Stephen Robles:
That's
Nate:
No
Stephen Robles:
Pixar.
Nate:
rules,
Stephen Robles:
That
Nate:
just
Stephen Robles:
was Pixar
Nate:
right.
Stephen Robles:
before Disney bought it. That's not even a Disney movie.
Nate:
Tell me, what's more triumphant?
Stephen Robles:
It's falling with style.
Nate:
Hmm
Stephen Robles:
It's not flying.
Nate:
Yana.
Stephen Robles:
It's falling with style.
Nate:
Yana. Rest
Stephen Robles:
Listen,
Nate:
my case.
Stephen Robles:
I will say Big Hero 6 is a better, it's a better flight scene, but Toy Story has a bigger payoff in that moment. So like visually, music, Big Hero 6 is a better
Nate:
I
Stephen Robles:
flight
Nate:
will say
Stephen Robles:
scene.
Nate:
the Aladdin flight scene is better than Big Hero 6 flight scene.
Stephen Robles:
You
Nate:
You
Stephen Robles:
mean
Nate:
have
Stephen Robles:
when he's
Nate:
both
Stephen Robles:
escaping
Nate:
the
Stephen Robles:
the cave?
Nate:
escape from the cave and you have a whole new world.
Stephen Robles:
Yeah, it does not count as a flight scene.
Nate:
Those are both your flying on a magic carpet.
Stephen Robles:
Yana, Yana, objection. There is a song, a do it being sung.
Nate:
Mm-hmm
Stephen Robles:
And if there's anyone.
Nate:
a hole in the doughnut
Stephen Robles:
Listen, anyone, you ask anybody.
Nate:
Anyone can
Stephen Robles:
They're
Nate:
step
Stephen Robles:
gonna...
Nate:
on a magic carpet. It requires no skill.
Stephen Robles:
They're gonna say that that scene is about the song, not about the flight. I don't
Nate:
I also submit
Stephen Robles:
count
Nate:
to you
Stephen Robles:
that
Nate:
the
Stephen Robles:
as a
Nate:
Golden
Stephen Robles:
flight
Nate:
Eagle
Stephen Robles:
scene.
Nate:
from Rescuers Down Under as a more impactful flight. Man, I'm on fire today. Let me, let me, hold on a second. I'm on fire today. Let me, hold on a second. I'm on fire today. Let me, hold on a second. I'm on fire today. Let me, hold on a second. I'm on fire today. Let me, hold on a second. Let me, hold on a
Stephen Robles:
That's
Nate:
second. Let
Stephen Robles:
all
Nate:
me,
Stephen Robles:
right.
Nate:
hold on a second. Let me, hold on a second. Let me, hold on a second. Let me, hold on a second.
Stephen Robles:
That's
Nate:
Let me, hold
Stephen Robles:
all
Nate:
on a
Stephen Robles:
right.
Nate:
second.
Stephen Robles:
It's all right. It's all right. OK. I mean, I don't know. I still think Big Hero 6 is a better flight
Nate:
In
Stephen Robles:
scene.
Nate:
Coco, the dog transforms into a giant colorful creature. No, actually, that's not that impactful.
Stephen Robles:
the glass onion. I don't know. I love that flight
Nate:
It's
Stephen Robles:
scene.
Nate:
yeah, it's really cool. I was
Stephen Robles:
We
Nate:
a
Stephen Robles:
had
Nate:
bit
Stephen Robles:
to talk about...
Nate:
spoiled by it because I spent a lot of that scene scrubbing through to try to find a usable reference for my art. So I actually saw that scene about 18 times in a row trying to freeze it at a correct spot in it.
Stephen Robles:
I see, I see.
Nate:
So it's sorry, it's been hurt a little bit. It's really great.
Stephen Robles:
Okay, okay, we gotta get to the ending. The ending is just crushing moment,
Nate:
Mm,
Stephen Robles:
self-sacrifice to the max,
Nate:
mm, mm-hmm.
Stephen Robles:
pun
Nate:
To
Stephen Robles:
intended.
Nate:
the Baymax, yes.
Stephen Robles:
I didn't know, I wasn't gonna say it, you said it.
Nate:
Puns
Stephen Robles:
But
Nate:
said.
Stephen Robles:
that is, I think that is, of all the self-sacrifices, I'm not gonna say that's the best, because I can't think of all the scenes that
Nate:
Right, because I'm about to call about Iron Man
Stephen Robles:
self-sacrifice, Lion
Nate:
doing the exact same thing in the same portal.
Stephen Robles:
King.
Nate:
Yep, in Avengers.
Stephen Robles:
You got that, you got Lion
Nate:
And now, we're gonna go back to the game. And we're gonna go back to the game. And we're gonna go back to the game. And we're gonna go back to the game. And we're gonna go back to the game. And we're gonna go back to the game. And we're gonna go back to the game. And we're gonna go back to the game. And we're gonna go back to the game. And we're gonna go back to the game. And we're gonna go back to the game. And we're gonna go back to the game.
Stephen Robles:
King, you know. Mufasa jumping in to save Simba during the stampede.
Nate:
Not a sacrifice. He already saved him.
Stephen Robles:
It...
Nate:
No, he
Stephen Robles:
did
Nate:
already
Stephen Robles:
he die?
Nate:
sa- No?
Stephen Robles:
Did he die?
Nate:
That wasn't a sacrifice. He was murdered by Scar.
Stephen Robles:
He didn't know he was gonna
Nate:
Okay,
Stephen Robles:
survive that.
Nate:
hold on. Everyone stop.
Stephen Robles:
Now wait a minute
Nate:
Stop
Stephen Robles:
now hold
Nate:
right
Stephen Robles:
on
Nate:
now.
Stephen Robles:
a second.
Nate:
You stop right now.
Stephen Robles:
Wait a minute. That was
Nate:
Damn it,
Stephen Robles:
a
Nate:
I
Stephen Robles:
sacrifice
Nate:
can't do it.
Stephen Robles:
scene.
Nate:
He
Stephen Robles:
This
Nate:
did not
Stephen Robles:
one of
Nate:
sacrifice
Stephen Robles:
the biggest.
Nate:
him. Mufasa did not sacrifice himself. He didn't get trampled by wildebeest while holding up
Stephen Robles:
But that's like saying because Baymax didn't know
Nate:
Simba.
Stephen Robles:
he would have to stay in that dimension, that that's not self-sacrifice either. Like Baymax didn't know, he didn't know flying into that.
Nate:
Baymax knew he wasn't going
Stephen Robles:
That's not self-sacrifice either. Baymax didn't know he didn't know flying into that. That's not self-sacrifice either. That's not self-sacrifice either. Baymax didn't know he didn't know flying into that. That's not self-sacrifice either. That's not self-sacrifice either. Baymax didn't know he didn't know flying into that. That's not self-sacrifice either. That's not self-sacrifice either. That's not self-sacrifice either. That's not self-sacrifice either. That's not self-s
Nate:
to make it, so he chose
Stephen Robles:
Not when he
Nate:
to
Stephen Robles:
entered
Nate:
sacrifice
Stephen Robles:
the portal.
Nate:
himself.
Stephen Robles:
Baypaks entering that portal was like Mufasa jumping into the
Nate:
Mufasa?
Stephen Robles:
stampede to save Simba.
Nate:
Mufasa never had a thought in his mind that he wasn't gonna make it out of he wasn't gonna rescue his son and make it out Alive in fact he rescued his son. He then climbed
Stephen Robles:
Yeah.
Nate:
up the cliff He was doing it and then he
Stephen Robles:
I
Nate:
was
Stephen Robles:
don't know, we
Nate:
murdered
Stephen Robles:
don't know
Nate:
by
Stephen Robles:
if he would
Nate:
scar.
Stephen Robles:
have climbed up
Nate:
It's
Stephen Robles:
that cliff.
Nate:
not a sacrifice if you're murdered
Stephen Robles:
He was yelling at Scar to help him because he was already sliding down. He
Nate:
Skah!
Stephen Robles:
might not have made it all the way up.
Nate:
Brother!
Stephen Robles:
He might not have made it all the way up the cliff.
Nate:
Long
Stephen Robles:
I hold
Nate:
live
Stephen Robles:
listeners.
Nate:
the king!
Stephen Robles:
It's one of the Jeremy Irons, man,
Nate:
Everyone,
Stephen Robles:
that scene.
Nate:
right now, you head to our Instagram. Movies
Stephen Robles:
At
Nate:
on
Stephen Robles:
Movies
Nate:
the side.
Stephen Robles:
on the Side. Yes,
Nate:
Listen
Stephen Robles:
yes.
Nate:
to me. I need you to tell Steven right now Mufasa
Stephen Robles:
I need you
Nate:
did
Stephen Robles:
to tell
Nate:
not
Stephen Robles:
the
Nate:
sacrifice
Stephen Robles:
truth.
Nate:
himself.
Stephen Robles:
Tell the truth.
Nate:
He was tragically murdered by the uncle character in this Hamlet retelling with Lions. Not a sacrifice, Baymax is a sacrifice. Lion King is Hamlet. Lion
Stephen Robles:
Wait
Nate:
King is
Stephen Robles:
a
Nate:
Hamlet.
Stephen Robles:
minute.
Nate:
Lion King is Hamlet. Lion King is Hamlet. Lion King is Hamlet. Lion King is Hamlet. Lion King
Stephen Robles:
Are you
Nate:
is
Stephen Robles:
for
Nate:
Hamlet.
Stephen Robles:
real? This show's over. This show's over. This is the end of the video. Thank you for watching. I hope you enjoyed it. I'll see you in the next video. Bye.
Nate:
Do.
Stephen Robles:
Is that like a known thing? Do people know
Nate:
Yeah.
Stephen Robles:
that?
Nate:
No, I'm saying
Stephen Robles:
Oh my goodness.
Nate:
hold on a second. Steven's doing some, some
Stephen Robles:
Yeah,
Nate:
thinking.
Stephen Robles:
we definitely got it. Listen, Mufasa's scene was a sacrifice, that's all I'm saying. So's was Baymax. Listeners
Nate:
Thank
Stephen Robles:
will
Nate:
you.
Stephen Robles:
decide
Nate:
Bye.
Stephen Robles:
when they comment on our Instagram, was Mufasa's act a sacrifice? And
Nate:
Right.
Stephen Robles:
then we can, well, we
Nate:
Was
Stephen Robles:
will discuss
Nate:
it, well,
Stephen Robles:
next
Nate:
yeah,
Stephen Robles:
episode.
Nate:
was Mufasa's act of sacrifice?
Stephen Robles:
Yeah,
Nate:
That is
Stephen Robles:
get
Nate:
a perfect
Stephen Robles:
on Instagram.
Nate:
question. I don't care about this movie anymore. I only care about this question.
Stephen Robles:
We gotta rate this movie real quick on a scale of zero to five. One of those little chips. What do you always say? Zero to
Nate:
the
Stephen Robles:
five.
Nate:
nanites?
Stephen Robles:
Oh, I wanna have to say one of the coolest sound editing moments was when Baymax gets a hole poked in himself and he's putting the tape on his holes
Nate:
Yes.
Stephen Robles:
and the sound gets higher and higher pitched. So good. Just wanna mention that.
Nate:
Baymax having the holes and then putting like kind of just seeping out had the
Stephen Robles:
Yeah.
Nate:
same sort of beautiful, I don't know, comical, but like perfectly timed humor as I will say, as a props for Zootopia two years later, the
Stephen Robles:
Sure.
Nate:
sloth at the DMV
Stephen Robles:
That
Nate:
whole
Stephen Robles:
is very
Nate:
scene
Stephen Robles:
good.
Nate:
has that same sort of like, this is good, fun.
Stephen Robles:
Yeah,
Nate:
Well done.
Stephen Robles:
that is good. Oh, on a scale of zero to five, micro-bots.
Nate:
Okay.
Stephen Robles:
Zero to five, micro-bots. I'm gonna go for it. I'm gonna say this is a five out of five
Nate:
Wow
Stephen Robles:
movie. I know you brought up some issues with Callahan, but I don't have those issues. This is high rewatchability,
Nate:
Hmm
Stephen Robles:
music, action, dialogue, emotion,
Nate:
Mm.
Stephen Robles:
writing. I think this is an excellent movie. I give it five out of five, micro-bots.
Nate:
Have you ever done this before? Did you give a five out of five
Stephen Robles:
We're
Nate:
before?
Stephen Robles:
gonna
Nate:
So, I'm
Stephen Robles:
move
Nate:
gonna
Stephen Robles:
five
Nate:
go back
Stephen Robles:
out
Nate:
to
Stephen Robles:
of
Nate:
the
Stephen Robles:
five
Nate:
beginning.
Stephen Robles:
maybe to say an Andreas with a rock
Nate:
Thank you for watching!
Stephen Robles:
but other than that I'm not sure I don't know. I don't know
Nate:
All right, I'm gonna give Big Hero 6 a 4 out of 5, which is super high
Stephen Robles:
I understand.
Nate:
praise. I'm
Stephen Robles:
Yeah.
Nate:
gonna say
Stephen Robles:
So, that's the end of the video. Thanks for watching. I hope you enjoyed it. I'll see you in the next video. Bye.
Nate:
the portal, the Callahan in general, that sort of, I don't know, it doesn't do anything for me. It's
Stephen Robles:
I get
Nate:
not
Stephen Robles:
it,
Nate:
a
Stephen Robles:
I get
Nate:
negative,
Stephen Robles:
it.
Nate:
maybe it's just not a positive. He's very menacing in his mask doing his thing, but the reveal didn't hit me with any sort of, I don't
Stephen Robles:
All
Nate:
know,
Stephen Robles:
right, all
Nate:
any
Stephen Robles:
right,
Nate:
sort
Stephen Robles:
that's
Nate:
of something.
Stephen Robles:
fine.
Nate:
So 4 out of 5, still great, still
Stephen Robles:
Okay.
Nate:
recommended, super underrated movie. If you haven't
Stephen Robles:
Yes.
Nate:
seen Big Hero 6,
Stephen Robles:
Go see it.
Nate:
worth it. Worth it
Stephen Robles:
Go see it.
Nate:
to go see.
Stephen Robles:
It's on Disney Plus, you just stream it.
Nate:
And then go see Lion King
Stephen Robles:
It's on Disney Plus, you just stream it. It's on Disney Plus, you just stream it. It's on Disney Plus, you just stream it. It's on Disney Plus, you just stream it. It's on Disney Plus, you just stream it. It's on Disney Plus, you just stream it. It's on Disney Plus, you just stream it. It's on Disney Plus, you just stream it. It's on
Nate:
with the new knowledge that it's Hamlet.
Stephen Robles:
And then, before you go see the Lion
Nate:
Oh, it's
Stephen Robles:
King.
Nate:
not Hamlet, is it? Oh my goodness, did I mess this up?
Stephen Robles:
Did you get it wrong? Is it a fellow or something? Is it Macbeth? Is it
Nate:
It's McBeth.
Stephen Robles:
King Lear?
Nate:
It's McBeth.
Stephen Robles:
It's Macbeth?
Nate:
It's McBeth.
Stephen Robles:
Oh!
Nate:
What did I- What I was saying the whole time?
Stephen Robles:
To be or not to be. That's what Mufasa
Nate:
Oh no no,
Stephen Robles:
asked himself when
Nate:
wait.
Stephen Robles:
he jumped down into the...
Nate:
Hold on a second.
Stephen Robles:
Yeah, I'm pretty sure Scar had the line. To be or not to be. No,
Nate:
No, Hamlet,
Stephen Robles:
just
Nate:
Hamlet.
Stephen Robles:
kidding.
Nate:
And this Hamlet, but it is, it was inspired by Hamlet, but also by
Stephen Robles:
It
Nate:
the
Stephen Robles:
is
Nate:
stories
Stephen Robles:
Hamlet?
Nate:
of Joseph and Moses.
Stephen Robles:
Okay.
Nate:
And so, we're gonna go through the story of Joseph and Moses. And so, we're gonna go through
Stephen Robles:
Go
Nate:
the story of Joseph and Moses.
Stephen Robles:
to...
Nate:
And so, we're gonna go through
Stephen Robles:
Listen,
Nate:
the story of Joseph and Moses. And
Stephen Robles:
listeners.
Nate:
so, we're gonna go through the story of Joseph and Moses. And so,
Stephen Robles:
Viewers.
Nate:
we're gonna go through the story of Joseph and Moses.
Stephen Robles:
Okay, all right.
Nate:
That's what...
Stephen Robles:
Go to instagram.com slash movies on the side or in your Instagram app. Add movies on the side. We have a post that goes up. It says movie review, where we announce the new episode. Comment on that post. Was
Nate:
We don't
Stephen Robles:
Mufasa's.
Nate:
often ask you to go to Instagram, but please
Stephen Robles:
I'm pretty sure we ask
Nate:
do
Stephen Robles:
him every
Nate:
this
Stephen Robles:
week,
Nate:
for us.
Stephen Robles:
but
Nate:
Well, I don't. I'm asking you this time. The other times, that
Stephen Robles:
Oh,
Nate:
was just
Stephen Robles:
I
Nate:
Stephen.
Stephen Robles:
see how it is.
Nate:
This is both of
Stephen Robles:
Yeah.
Nate:
us. The End
Stephen Robles:
Now wait a minute. Okay. So go to Instagram comment was Mufasa and the stampede a sacrifice. Say yes. And then period. And then Nate was wrong. And then just hit post post the comment. That's all you got to do. That's
Nate:
or
Stephen Robles:
it.
Nate:
speak the truth.
Stephen Robles:
And then support us, so you can listen to the bonus episode at DirectlyNapal Podcast or patreon.com slash movies on the side. And as we always say, to be or not to be.
Nate:
Sadashi is here.
Stephen Robles:
See, even that like emotionless line, it gets you right there. That's deep.
Nate:
It is, it is great. It is a great story.
Stephen Robles:
5 out of 5.
